David Wicks returning to EastEnders?
The Mirror has suggested that Michael French is to reprise his role as David Wicks in EastEnders.
According to the paper French has agreed to return as the Walford womaniser and will make a comeback in the Autumn. David was last seen in the Square for the death of his mother Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement), who bowed out of the show on New Year’s Day 2012.
The father of fiery red-head Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), his return could see him reunite with former lover Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) who he left on the floor in tears as he drove away following the funeral of his mother.
Wicks also made enemy with Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) after he began an affair with his then wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) which led her to hiring a hitman to shoot her husband.
“David is a massive character and was always hugely popular with fans. Michael’s return to the soap is a huge coup for the BBC, and viewers will see his character back to charming, cunning best. He has also been assured of a couple of major, forthcoming storylines.” – A show insider speaking to The Mirror
French originally played the role of David between 1993 and 1996 before going on to star in BBC medical dramas Casualty and Holby City.
