Greg James and Alice Levine for BBC Three’s Big Weekend
BBC Radio 1 DJ’s Greg James and Alice Levine are to co-present the extensive coverage on BBC Three of Radio 1’s Big Weekend Derry~Londonderry 2013.
BBC Three will be broadcasting from BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend on both Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May from 7pm, showing many of the performances from both stages and the main stage headliners live. There will also be highlights from the other superstar acts performing on the many stages across the weekend.
Greg James says: “This is Radio 1’s biggest event and it’s an honour to be stuck up a tree-house with Alice and to be fronting the coverage for BBC Three.”
Alice Levine adds: “Less than 6 months now with Radio 1 and I get to be part of the Big Weekend! Plus, to be hosting for BBC Three live from the event is so exciting, especially as I get to do it alongside Greg. Lots of the artists on the line-up are favourites of mine, so I’m really looking forward to seeing them perform, and maybe even chat to them on the show.”
Radio 1’s Big Weekend Derry~Londonderry 2013 takes place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend in the heart of the city at Ebrington Square and Venue 2013. On Friday 24th May, the focus will be on dance music and 1Xtra, while Saturday 25th May and Sunday 26th May will feature a Main Stage and In New Music We Trust Stage.
Zai Bennett, Controller of BBC Three, says: “BBC Three’s summer of incredible live music is kicking off with Radio 1’s Big Weekend. The line-up of artists and acts is superb and it’s great to see Greg returning to host the event’s coverage on BBC Three and to welcome Alice to the channel.”
As well as BBC Three coverage, Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra, with a major interactive presence and many of the live performances made available online to watch on demand and on the BBC Red Button.
