NBC Orders Chicago Fire Spin-Off

The rumours are true: NBC has ordered a police based spin-off from Chicago Fire.

Rumours of a possible police based spin-off from the freshmen drama first emerged a few weeks ago. Fire-fighting drama Chicago Fire, starring Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer, has been a moderate hit for NBC so the move to spin-off another show from the drama so soon is slightly surprising.

However, producer Dick Wolf has a history of spinning shows off/creating successful franchises as he’s the made behind the once powerful Law & Order franchise. The new spin-off from Chicago Fire will be titled Chicago P.D and will star Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Tania Raymonde and Scott Eastwood.

The logline for the spin-off reads “District 21 of the Chicago Police Department is made up of two distinctly different groups. There are the uniformed cops who patrol the beat and go head to head with the city’s street crimes. And there’s the Intelligence Unit” — led by Voight — “that combats the city’s major offenses – organized crime, drug trafficking, high profile murders and beyond.”
