The CW Picks Up Tomorrow People Remake

The CW has picked up its remake of The Tomorrow People as well as dramas Reign, Star Crossed and The 100.

UK cult classic The Tomorrow People is to be remade for American audiences after The CW picked up the series. The broadcaster ordered a pilot for the remake earlier this year and it has obviously impressed bosses at The CW enough to pick it up as a series.

The original 1970s series aired on ITV and revolved around a group of young people, from around the world, who have special powers and are seen as the “next stage in evolution”. The Tomorrow People was revived in the 1990s for 25 episodes and more recently as a series of audio dramas.

The CW’s Tomorrow People is being produced by Arrow’s Greg Berlanti, Chuck’s Phil Klemmer and Nikita’s Danny Cannon. Julie Plec is also a producer on the remake but given her duties as show-runner on The Vampire Diaries and its forthcoming spin-off The Originals its unclear how much involvement Plec will be able to have with the series.

The cast of the remake will include Peyton List, Luke Mitchell, Mark Pellegrino and Robbie Amell.

Also picked up by The CW is Reign; a historical drama charting the life of Mary Queen of Scots at the French court. The drama will star Adelaide Kane, Anna Popplewell, Toby Regbo and Megan Follows.

Star-Crossed revolves around an “epic romance” between a human girl and an alien boy and will star Matt Lanter, Malese Jow and Aimee Teegarden. The 100 stars Bob Morley, Henry Ian Cusick, Kelly Hu and Eliza Taylor.
