Jack Tweed talks Jade Goody
Jack Tweed has spoken to ITV’s Jeremy Kyle about his last words to former Big Brother personality Jade Goody and why he contemplated suicide.
Tweed revealed how he had to leave the room as she was dying as he found it too painful. Speaking on The Jeremy Kyle Show, Jack, who married Jade shortly before her death in 2009, told how he had spent the last few week of her life by her bedside.
He said: “The doctors said you’ll be able to tell when it’s going to happen because she struggles for her breath and it’s proper hard breathing. And it gradually got worse and worse and I slept on the floor every night for a month next to her. And then the last night it was about..it was early in the morning and it was just getting heavier and heavier. It was like her whole body was moving because she was fighting to breathe and I just couldn’t sit there no more.”
When asked what his final words were to Jade, Jack broke down in tears and said:
“Just I love her. I just kissed her and walked out and it just went silent after a couple of minutes.”
Jack also told Jeremy how he had contemplated suicide after being charged with the rape of a 19 year old girl. He was found not guilty but was imprisoned after being charged as he was on licence for a previous conviction of ABH.
He said: “I just felt God was looking at me saying right I’m going to destroy you – you are not going to have a good life here.
“I always say if I had a gun I would have shot myself in the head without a question because I couldn’t handle it. It was horrible. Just being associated with that word (rape) it makes me angry thinking about it, it winds me up.”
“The only thing I think that stopped me was when I went to prison I was in a segregation unit and I literally I didn’t move for about a week and half, I just lied there I didn’t move I didn’t shower, I didn’t move once. I think if I could have moved myself, I probably would have killed myself because I didn’t want to be there. But I wouldn’t move, I wouldn’t sleep I’d just lie there.”
