Android smartphone app under fire over gay claims
{jcomments off}An app for Android smartphone has come under fire for claims it can tell ‘anxious mothers’ whether there sons are gay or not through 20 questions.
The French smartphone app costs 1.99 euros and asks 20 very stereotypical questions such as how long a son spends doing his hair, whether he likes sports and whether he likes musicals. The app has come under fire for its use of stereotypical questions and also for implying that having gay sons is something to ‘worry about’.
Those who answer the questions get the response that their sons are gay get the message ‘You do not have to worry you, your son is not gay. So there are chances for you to be grandmother with all the joys it brings.” If the app ‘decides’ a son is gay the message reads ‘No need to look the other way! He is gay! ACCEPT IT’
A petition against the app already has over 30,000 signatures. You can sign it here >>
