Michele Bachmann calls Piers Morgan 'rude'

Michele BachmannFormer Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann has branded Piers Morgan ‘rude’ after appearing on his CNN chat-show.

Bachmann, a so-called ‘darling’ of the Tea Party, was one of the hopefuls in the race to be nominated as the Republican candidate for this year’s Presidential elections in America. However, Bachmann fell at the first hurdle coming sixth in the Iowa caucuses in January; the after the big defeat she announced she was withdrawing from the campaign.

During her appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight, on CNN, Bachmann was challenged about her views on gay marriage and homosexuality. Bachmann was branded the most “judgemental lady in American politics” by Morgan over his previous statements on gay rights and gays in general. However, Bachmann repeatedly stated she refused to “judge” people despite her track record on gay issues speaking for itself. Bachmann told Morgan ‘That’s absolutely rude, I’m not a judgemental person…..I believe in traditional values, I believe in marriage between a man and a woman, but I don’t think that’s bigoted.’

Bachmann is a noted opponent of gay marriage, something she was challenged about during her short-lived campaign to be nominated as the Republican presidential candidate. Bachmann once stated, on the campaign trial, that gays do have the right to marry – someone of the opposite sex. Bachmann isn’t alone in her opposition to gay marriage as fellow hopefuls in the Republican race, such as Rick Santorum, are also opposed to the idea.

On Friday evangelical Christian actor Kirk Cameron appeared on Piers Morgan Tonight and branded homosexuality as “unnatural” – his comments attracted wide spread criticism.
