Kirk Cameron criticises Piers Morgan over interview
Conservative Christian actor Kirk Cameron has criticised Piers Morgan (pictured right) over an interview he gave to the journalist on CNN.
Earlier this month Growing Pains actor Kirk Cameron appeared on CNN chat-show Piers Morgan Tonight in a controversial interview that drew wide-spread criticism. Cameron’s comments regarding homosexuality drew the wrath of GLAAD and Twitter users as he branded it “un-natural” and “destructive” to society and stated he was firmly against gay marriage.
Despite the controversial nature of his comments host Piers Morgan later appeared to defend his guest. In a brief interview with TMZ following Kirk Cameron’s comments Morgan described the actor as “very brave”. However, that was before Cameron himself waded into the debate and turned fire on Morgan.
During an appearance on the Today Show Cameron was very critical of Piers Morgan. Cameron said ‘When you take a subject and reduce it to something like a four-second sound bite and a check mark on a ballot, I think that that’s inappropriate and insensitive. … To edit it down to that, it certainly didn’t reflect my full heart on the matter’
Piers Morgan is never one to take criticism lying down and so fired back at Cameron in a series of posts on Twitter. ‘Kirk Cameron is moaning everywhere today that I stitched him up by releasing a 4-second ‘soundbite’ re his comments on gay marriage,” he tweeted. “These are the 4 seconds: homosexuality is ‘unnatural..detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization… Mr Cameron ‘stands by the comments’, despite his whining. So I’ll let others decide if he was stitched up…or just a bigot’
