Nick Pickard loses hair for Hollyoaks Cancer Storyline

Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard has shaved his head and had all his visible body hair waxed in preparation for his upcoming storyline which sees his character Tony Hutchinson undergo chemotherapy treatment for Testicular Cancer.

The Lime Pictures photographs show the process of Nick, Hollyoaks longest serving cast member, visiting a salon in Liverpool, for the removal of his body hair including his eyebrows. Nick’s fellow cast mates Ashley Taylor Dawson and Jimmy McKenna were on hand to lend Nick some moral support and even helped out with some of the waxing.

I am extremely honoured and humbled to be asked to portray Tony’s current cancer story line, therefore, I had no doubts about having all my body hair removed in order to accurately depict the effects of chemotherapy treatment. We should all remember that it is the real life sufferers of cancer who show courage everyday as they battle the disease. – Nick Pickard

Nick’s character Tony Hutchinson was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May 2013 and viewers will see Tony have his head shaved in emotional scenes to be screened later in the summer.
