One to Watch: Secrets of the Royals, Channel 5 at 9pm

The four-part series that offers a light-hearted look into the world of the royal family, exploring their traditions, healthcare and priceless property as well as a look through the keyhole at some of their grand palaces. No Keith Lemon required for the latter, thankfully.

The series features former staff including butlers, chefs and various other palace staff. There will also be contributions from historians and royal corrispondents sharing a side to the royal family that the public rarely, if ever, gets to see.

The palaces of the British monarchy project an image of luxury, wealth and power to the world. But they are also the homes of the Queen and her family. In this entertaining series what goes on behind royal doors is revealed.

Tonight a royal butler explains how he accidentally ended up dancing with the Queen, an interiour designer to the rich and famous tells Channel 5 what he found  in the drawers of Buckingham Palace while the Queen’s PR man reveals the real reason the Buck Palace staff bar was closed and a upholsterer to the royals explains why you should always be careful when someone in the palace offers you a cup of tea.

There’s also a look into the past palace life as historian Kate Williams regales viewers with some gruesome tales from the history of some of the best known royal abodes.

The Circle, Channel 4 at 10pm

In the game where anyone can be anyone, who will win The Circle? Emma Willis hosts the series where up to £100k is on offer for the winner. In The Circle, players live in separate flats in an apartment block and communicate with each other through a voice-activated social media platform called The Circle. The players can be whoever they want on their Circle profiles, as they are hidden behind their screen. They can choose to conceal certain things, change their identity entirely, or simply be themselves. And because the players can’t see each or hear other, there is plenty of opportunity for gameplay.

The players get to know each other better in an ice breaker, covering all sorts, including cats and dogs, Brexit, and Mrs Doubtfire.

The influencers have a private chat and decide who will be the first participant blocked from this series of The Circle. And celebrity catfish Richard Madeley is in the house waiting for the public to decide if he is to be Ripped Richard or Gorgeous Judy?

The Reluctant Landlord: Couples Amnesty, Sky One at 10pm

The second series contines with episode four this evening and Rom is shocked when Nat reveals she has never liked Public Enemy.

They agree to go on a date where they each pick an activity for the other. Rom assumes Julie will cover his shift but Julie has had enough of being taken advantage of and leaves to work at The Dog. With Jayanthi and Dr Shepherd covering at the pub, they agree to help Lemon in the art of seduction by feeding him lines through an earpiece. All seems to be going well, until Lemon’s confidence gets the better of him.

For you culture vultures; over on Sky Arts at 8pm, there’s The Art of Architecture. This episode takes a look at the theatre at Alexandra Palace, London. Unseen for eighty years, the theatre at London’s Alexandra Palace has been restored by architect Matt Somerville. Or, sort of. His practice, Feilden Clegg Bradley, decided to keep much of what they found – including the damage done by the BBC, who had used it as a props store. The result? A Victorian theatre adapted for today, complete with ‘arrested decay.’

Made In Britain, ITV4 at 8pm

A brand new series of Made in Britain returns to ITV4 this evening for a five-episode run.

From the mass-produced to the handcrafted, a behind the scenes look at how Britain’s most iconic brands are made. Discover how the Nation’s favourite Yorkshire Puddings are made, on a massive scale. 

Get straight to the point with the family firm making fencing swords, fit for Olympians. Learn how to get lead into a pencil at Britain’s last remaining pencil factory. And see how one man’s quest to make the perfect present for his Dad, ended up producing handmade globes that are in demand around the world.

These are just some of the many products that are all proudly, Made in Britain. 

The Garden Rescue, BBC One at 3.45pm

The Garden Rescue team are in Harborne, south-west Birmingham, to help Thomas and Kate. The couple are both retired and have vowed to create their dream garden now their four children have grown up and left home and the lawn in no longer the scene of endless football and rugby matches! But it is too big of a job for them to tackle, so they have turned to Garden Rescue for the help they need to see their garden come to life.

They have a budget of £4,500 and have a few specific ideas to get the team thinking. The sun moves through the couple’s garden as the day goes on, and Tom would like to reflect this by splitting the garden into different sections for different times of the day.
