Terror threat to live Corrie?

Coronation Street has apparently become the target of terrorists ahead of tonight live episode.

Coronation Street is produced at the ITV Granada studios in Quay Street, Manchester.

The Sun newspaper claims that everyone coming into the studios will have been treated to extra security in the wake of so called ‘intelligence’ suggesting the live episode could be a target for terrorists.

The live episode tonight marks the 50th anniversary of Coronation Street. This week has seen an explosion at the The Joinery, causing a tram to crash onto the street below its viaduct rails.

In last nights episode, Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold) was tragically killed after becoming a hero when saving his friend Peter Barlow.

Ashley had been a popular character within the ITV Granada saga since 1995, and was best known for his marriage to Maxine before she was killed by serial killer Richard Hillman.

Coronation Street airs a special one hour live episode tonight at 8pm on ITV1, STV and UTV.
