Prank Caller Phones Police over Corrie Tram-Crash
Police in Manchester received a prank a phone-call regarding the tram-crash in Coronation Street.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Police in the city received a prank phone call regarding the tram-crash in Coronation Street. The ‘big event’ in the Granada soap was to mark its 50th anniversary and saw an explosion at The Joinery Bar result in a tram ploughing into the famous street – pretty much demolishing the Corner Shop, the Kabin and causing a fire in Number 13.
It was revealed earlier this week that several callers contacted the tram service in Manchester to see if the trams were still running. Now it has been revealed that the Police in the city received a prank phone, on a non-emergency number, regarding the episode. According to the Manchester Evening News the hoax call lasted five minutes and operators were quick to realise it was not a genuine call.
The prankster identity himself as ‘James Martin’ and told Police that;`There’s been a big smash. A tram’s come over the top of the thing and smashed down on to the nightclub and shops. Little Blonde Max is missing. I know Rita is stuck in the shop’.
The police are investigating the call and condemned the prankster for wasting police time. To listen to the call and see if you can help police identify the caller, go to www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
