NeighboursNeighbours favourite Harold Bishop is set to return to Ramsay Street for a short stint early in 2011. The character was last seen in February 2009 after actor Ian Smith decided to quit the Australian soap – it was later reported he was unhappy with the soap’s move from BBC One to Channel Five in the UK. This was denied though by sources on Neighbours.

According to actor Ryan Moloney, who plays Toadie, the character is set to return to Neighbours early in 2011 for a short stint. Back in October the prospect of a return for Harold was raised by actor Sam Clark, who played Ringo on the soap, who tipped the character for a future possible return.

“I know that Harold is coming back for a little bit, I can’t wait. I love Ian and it’s good to work with an old friend.” – Ryan Moloney in TV Week

The return of Harold to Ramsay Street will be a welcome one for fans even if it is brief. It will also come just after Neighbours moves home from Channel Ten to digital spin-off station Eleven. The Australian soap has effectively been demoted to the new digital channel because of continuing low ratings in its native country though ratings on Channel Five have risen in the past few months.
