The Archers 60th Anniversary Plot

Last night BBC Radio Four’s rural soap The Archers marked its 60th anniversary with a special double length episode featuring a plot shrouded in secrecy and much speculation – now it’s been revealed what is your reaction to it?

 Last night The Archers, BBC Radio Four’s rural soap, marked its 60th anniversary. Now you don’t need to be good at maths to work out that at 60 years The Archers is a decade older than Coronation Street which recently marked its 50th anniversary with a tram-crash which killed off a three characters. The Archers has an audience of over 5 million listeners but is perhaps often over-looked in favour of the television soaps.

Last night the 60th anniversary was marked with a special double episode which featured a top-secret plot. And that is top secret as in no details of it were leaked to the press months ahead – unlike The Archer’s television counterparts.

The top secret plot lead to much speculation amongst the soaps listeners as to what might happen in the anniversary episode with some – perhaps cheekily – suggesting Martians would land! Or even there would be a Dynasty style massacre – in which doubtless most of the residents of Ambridge would miraculously survive.
