There are rumours that Megan McTavish could be heading back to ABC’s daytime soap All My Children as head writer once more. According to several sites in America ABC are hoping to tempt back McTavish to take over writing duties on All My Children from current head writers David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski. The two took over writing duties on the daytime soap in May 2010 but their contracts reportedly expire in March and ABC are hoping to bring back McTavish.
The writer has had several stints working on All My Children and is a little controversial with fans. The writer was mentored by the soap’s creator Agnex Nixon and served as head writer between 1992 to 1995, 1997 to 1999 and more recently 2003 to 2007. Since her exit in 2007 All My Children has gone through several head writers in a short space of time. Barbara Esenten and James Harmon Brown replaced her in 2007 but in June 2008 they were replaced by Charles Pratt Jr. Then Lorraine Broderick took over on a temporary basis in November 2009 until Kreizman and Swajeski took over last year.
So why are fans so divided on McTavish’s work? Well on the plus side she was responsible for creating some of the soap’s cornerstone characters such as Kendall Hart, the daughter of Erica Kane, and Ryan Lavery. However, fans were not impressed with storylines such as Michael Cambias assault on Bianca Montgomery and the poisoned pancake demise of Dixie Cooney in 2007.
However, its important to remember that at the moment McTavish’ return to All My Children is just a rumour.
