EastEndersNatalie Cassidy criticises EastEnders over mistakes made in its controversial baby-swap plot. The actress will return on-screen shortly for a brief return as Sonja Fowler. Sonja returns to Albert Square when her sister Bianca (Patsy Palmer) goes missing. Writing in her column for New magazine the actress has criticised the controversial plot in EastEnders saying ‘attention to detail was poor’.

Attention to detail was poor – Ronnie walking around hours after giving birth. Also, mums are advised to keep babies in a Moses basket till they’re six months. And you wouldn’t leave a newborn on the bed like Ronnie did.” – Natalie Cassidy writing in New!

Complaints over the controversial plot have topped ten thousand and last week the BBC confirmed the storyline would be cut short and wrapped up earlier than expected. It was also revealed last week that actress Samantha Womack, who plays Ronnie Branning, has quit the soap. Actors Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace both denied rumours in the press over the weekend that they are planning on quitting as well. Yesterday actor Derek Martin, who plays Charlie Slater, defended the soap on ITV’s breakfast programme Daybreak. Martin said people treat EastEnders as if it were real.
