Emmerdale fans ‘under whelmed’ by fire episodes

EmmerdaleFans of ITV’s Emmerdale have been left ‘underwhelmed’ by the highly anticipated fire that ripped through part of the village last night. Producers of Emmerdale revealed late last year that a fire would rip through part of the village killing off two characters. The highly anticipated fire became the subject of speculation as fans wondered which residents of the Yorkshire village would be killed off.

The fire episodes aired on ITV1 last night but the scenes have left some Emmerdale fans less than impressed.

“I was left really quite underwhelmed by last night’s Emmerdale. Next to no tension, no suspense – we know who lit the fire and we’d already found out who died – and just lots of people standing around shouting, “It’s on fire! Don’t go in!” The explosion was OK, though.” – Emmerdale fan

Earlier this week the names of the two characters who died in the fire were accidentally revealed in a television listings magazine prompting criticism from some fans that the names were revealed. Actress Deena Payne, who played Viv Hope in Emmerdale, was also critical of last night’s episodes branding them an “anti-climax”.
