DynastyThe sixth season of Dynasty, the 1980s glitzy soap, is to be released on DVD in the UK at the end of the month. The news will be welcomed by UK fans of Dynasty who have been patiently awaiting the release of the sixth season. The fifth season of Dynasty was released in the UK in June while the sixth was released in Europe late last year.

The sixth season of Dynasty resolves the infamous Moldavia Wedding Massacre cliff-hanger of the fifth season finale. At the wedding of ALinda Evans as 'Rita', Krystal's dopplegangermanda Carrington (Catherine Oxenberg) and Prince Michael (Michael Praed) terrorists break into the ceremony and seemingly gun down all the guests. It was the most famous cliff-hanger in Dynasty’s entire history and was designed to outdo Dallas’ Who Shot JR and viewers tuned in to find out who survived and who died in the bloody coup. As it turned out nearly the entire cast survived and its often said the resolution to the cliff-hanger damaged Dynasty and its when it “jumped the shark”. The poorly received storyline with Krystal (Linda Evans) being replaced by a look-a-like in a revenge plot by Sammy Jo (Heather Locklear) also feature in the sixth series as does the arrival of Alexis’ (Joan Collins) sister Caress played by Kate O’Mara.

TStephanie Beacham as Sablehe sixth season of Dynasty also saw spin-off The Colby’s launched with Emma Samms and John James crossing over to the spin-off as their respective characters. The spin-off was set in Los Angeles and revolved around the extended Colby family headed by Jason (Charlton Heston) and Sable (Stephanie Beacham), the cousin of Alexis. Despite the heavy storyline crossover between Dynasty’s sixth season and the first series of The Colby’s at present there are no plans to release the spin-off on DVD in the UK.

The sixth season of Dynasty DVD boxset contains all 30 episodes and will be released on the 24th January.
