Kyle Lowder leaving The Bold and the Beautiful
Kyle Lowder is leaving CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful after four years of playing the scheming Rick Forrester.
It’s been announced that Kyle Lowder is to leave CBS’s daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful. Lowder has played scheming Rick Forrester on the soap since 2007 and was the fourth actor to take on the part. Prior to Lowder’s casting in the role Rick was played by Justin Torkildsen between 1999 and 2006. The actor explained in an interview with Soap Opera Digest that head writer and executive producer Brad Bell met with Lowder to apologise for the lack of storylines for Rick of late.
“He felt it was in everybody’s best interest that we go in different directions. I had a great four years there and I thank him for the opportunity. And now, onto the next thing.” -Kyle Lowder speaking to Soap Opera Digest.
While Rick may not have been at the centre of storylines of late Lowder’s time with The Bold and the Beautiful has been anything but dull. Rick’s long-standing feud with step-father Ridge (Ronn Moss) has been the focus of some storylines. His relationship’s with Ridge’s ex wife Taylor (Hunter Tylo) and daughters Phoebe (MacKenzie Mauzy) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) have caused plenty of tension between Rick and Ridge especially following the death of Phoebe in a car crash – a crash which Rick was driving. His taboo romance with Steff led Rick to betray Forrester Creations and his father Eric (John McCook) by giving away designs for a new collections to Nick Malone (Jack Wagner) and his mother Jackie (Lesley-Anne Down).
A final airdate for Lowder has not yet been set because according to other reports the character will still appear on a recurring basis. This means Rick will only appear when the storyline dictates and would allow Lowder to work in other roles. Ashley Jones and Winsor Harmon have both been dropped to recurring status recently by The Bold and the Beautiful.
