Liz McDonaldCoronation Street bosses have planned an emotional exit for Liz McDonald when the Rovers Landlady bows out of the Granada soap. Actress Beverley Callard announced she was leaving the soap last year having played Liz, on and off, since 1989. The actress decided to quit Coronation Street to spend more time with her new husband.

For Liz’s exit Corrie bosses are reportedly taking inspiration from the 1995 exit of Rovers favourite Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear). According to The Sun the exit will be similar in style as Liz fails to buy The Rovers Return from son Steve (Simon Gregson) and decides to quit Weatherfield for sunnier pastures. Liz, like Bet before her, will bid an emotional goodbye to the Rovers before sneaking away to start a new life elsewhere – without even saying goodbye to ex-husband Jim (Charles Lawson).
