Nicola Stapleton discusses her EastEnders return
{jcomments on}Nicola Stapleton has discussed her forthcoming return to EastEnders.
The actress will return to the BBC One soap later this month after a 17 year absence as she reprises her role of Mandy Salter. Stapleton first appeared in the soap as Mandy in 1992 and remained with the London based soap until 1994. Mandy was a troublesome presence on Albert Square causing trouble for various residents but perhaps her most famous storyline was her relationship with teenager Aidan (Sean Maguire) which feel apart when he returned to Ireland, Mandy left Albert Square and Walford shortly after.
Actress Nicola Stapleton has discussed her return to EastEnders in an interview with All About Soap in which she explained she was thrilled to be returning after so long an absence.
“I never said I’d never come back to the show and I always thought that Mandy would pop her head back up at some point. But as the years went on, I began to think it was a bit less likely, so I’m thrilled we’ve been able to make it happen…. EastEnders does take over your life, but when we discussed the things they had in store for Mandy, I got really excited” – Nicola Stapleton quoted in All About Soap magazine
Since leaving EastEnders in 1994 the actress has appeared in Bad Girls as Janine Nebeski opposite fellow EastEnders actor Sid Owen, in Emmerdale as Danielle Hutch and the second season of Hollyoaks Later as Savannah. Stapleton has also had guest appearances in The Bill, Casualty and Holby City.
Nicola Stapleton will make her on-screen return as Mandy Salter on Monday 29th August.
