Revelations coming to DVD

{jcomments on}The little remembered 1990s late-night soap Revelations is set to be released on DVD.

The late-night soap ran for two seasons in the 1990s and amongst the writers on the series was Russell T. Davies who would later write the critically acclaimed Queer as Folk and re-launch Doctor Who in 2005. In the 1990s Davies had mostly worked on children’s dramas such as Dark Season, Century Falls and Children’s Ward with Revelations being an early forary into the soap opera genre; he would briefly go on to write for Coronation Street scripting the 1997 spin-off video Viva Las Vegas. Davies would also create the period soap The Grand following his work on Revelations.

Revelations DVD

Revelations was based around the family of Anglican Bishop Edward Rattigan (Paul Shelley) whose family life was anything but holy. As with most soaps sex, lust, betrayal and seduction played a large part in the storylines. Amongst the cast of the series were Sue Holderness, Judy Loe, Emma Roberts and Ben Hull who would later crop up in Hollyoaks, Brookside, Family Affairs and The Royal Today. Revelations originally aired on ITV before being picked up by Sky One.

The series is being released by Network DVD who have previously released fellow ITV soaps Crossroads, Emergency Ward 10, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Another ITV 1990s soap, London Bridge, is also being released by Network DVD, find out more here >>

Revelations will be available on DVD from 24th October.
