Days of our Lives and One Life to Live ratings rise

One Life to LiveRatings for the final full week of November reveal that One Life to Live saw considerable rises in its ratings while Days of our Lives also saw a rise. ABC‘s General Hospital continues to be the lowest rated daytime soap though.

As ever CBS‘s The Young and the Restless was top of the ratings chart with an average of 4.5 million viewers but while it might have reigned supreme it was down on viewers from the previous weeks. Sister CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful was, once again, second with an average of 3.1 million viewers with the Los Angeles based series being up on the previous week.

ABC’s soon-to-end One Life to Live continued to rate well and more important out-rate medical soap General Hospital. In fact OLTL have been a fairly good ratings puller for ABC all year which makes its cancellation by the broadcaster all the more disappointing – it had really turned itself around. Of course yesterday it was revealed the man behind the cancellation, Brian Frons, had leaving Days of our LivesABC Daytime sadly slightly too late to save OLTL. You can read the full story on that here >>. Anyway for the last full week of November One Life to Live had an average of 2.8 million viewers – up on the previous week and up a fair whack on last year.

Days of our Lives
, the last standing NBC soap, continued to push its ratings up – perhaps a sign its creative ‘re-fresh’ is working? Days had an average of 2.5 million millions for the week. Lastly General Hospital might have improved its ratings somewhat in recent weeks but it still remains the lowest rated daytime soap which makes it very vulnerable top the axe. The medical soap had an average of 2.4 million viewers for the week. If fans don’ want to see GH go the same way as AMC and OLTL (and Guiding Light/As The World Turns before it) they will need to rally around it NOW and get the ratings up a lot more.
