Lorraine Broderick joins Days of our Lives

Days of our LivesFormer All My Children head writer Lorraine Broderick has joined NBC soap Days of our Lives as co-head-writer.

It has been revealed that Broderick will act as head-writer on the last remaining NBC soap alongside Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell. The trio replace writers Marlene McPherson and Darrell Ray Thomas Jr who were brought in by NBC as head-writers last May. After less than a year though the two are being dropped.

McPherson took to Twitter about the news writing to hit back at NBC ‘Thank you DOOL fans. U r the best and we love you! NBC never let us tell our stories. They kept stopping us and changing our direction. Sad’

Lorraine Broderick most recently worked as a script-writer on ABC soap One Life to Live in its final months on-air. Prior to that she was show-runner of All My Children rejoining the soap in April 2011 just as rumours of its impending cancellation began – rumours that proved to be true. Broderick has also worked on other daytime soaps such as Another World, Guiding Light, As The World Turns and General Hospital spin-off Port Charles. Broderick previously worked on Days of our Lives in the late 1990s.
