Acorn Media acquires Foyle’s War rights

 

American firm Acorn Media has acquired the rights to the ITV war-time drama Foyle’s War.

American firm Acorn Media has acquired the rights to the ITV war-time drama Foyle’s War. Acorn Media acquired the rights to the detective drama as part of a deal to take over a number of assets belonging to the producer Greenlit which went into administration earlier this year. As part of the deal the firm has also acquired the rights to Collision which penned by Anthony Horowitz, creator of Foyle’s War. The deal includes DVD and digital rights for Foyle’s War and other programmes.

 

So far seven season’s of Foyle’s War have aired on ITV1 with the most recent broadcasting earlier this year. The drama was cancelled after its sixth season as part of budget cut backs at ITV with the costs involved with the drama being cited as the reason. However, following a change of bosses at ITV Foyle’s War was revived for a seventh season set in 1945 in the immediate aftermath of World War Two. As yet there has been no official word from ITV on the future of the series and whether an 8th series will be ordered.

 

Foyle’s War stars Michael Kitchen as the titular character, Christopher Foyle. Honeysuckle Weeks and Paul Milner are also part of the regular cast while Max Brown joined the cast for the seventh series and Julian Ovenden has recurred throughout the drama as Andrew Foyle.
