BBC Journalists set to strike on Monday

BBC staff belonging to the National Union of Journalists are set to go on strike this coming Monday.

The strike action is in response to compulsory redundancies at the BBC. The 24 hour strike will take place on Monday, the second strike to occur at the BBC within the past few weeks. The previous strike on 15th July disrupted BBC News services, with BBC Two’s Newsnight not airing and reduced news on the BBC News Channel.

The NUJ remains committed to negotiating a settlement to the dispute but the BBC remains unwilling to engage in finding reasonable resolutions for individuals who have been forced to leave and who face compulsory redundancy in the weeks to come.  – NUJ statement
