Judy Murray out of Strictly Come Dancing 2014

Strictly, Judy Murray

This weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing was broadcast from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom. However there was no seaside special treat for Judy Murray as she became the seventh person to depart the ballroom contest.

“I was starting to think I was absolutely hopeless but I know am still not very good! Anton has treated everything with the most incredible sense of humour, he is great fun to be around and has made my Strictly experience very very special.” – Judy Murray

Hosts Tess Daly and Zoe Ball welcomed the remaining nine couples onto the world famous dance floor for another chance to impress judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood, and the viewers at home.

Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker and her partner Brendan Cole, and Tennis Coach Judy Murray and professional partner Anton Du Beke found themselves in the dance-off. The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples facing the dance off.

Both couples then performed their routines again; Judy and Anton did their Viennese Waltz to ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite‘ from the musical Mary Poppins, and Sunetra and Brendan performed their Samba to ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin‘ by the Scissor Sisters and in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

After both couples had danced a second time the judges delivered their verdicts with the outcome that Judy must go home.

Sunday’s results show featured two special musical performances. The first was from Dame Shirley Bassey, who sang ‘Goldfinger’ and the second from McBusted, who performed their debut single ‘Air Guitar’.

Next week’s show will air on Saturday 22nd November at 7pm, with the results show on Sunday 23rd November at 7.15pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
