Sales of Sun on Sunday continue to fall
Sales of the newly launched Sun on Sunday continue to fall according to reports.
Media Guardian reports that the weekend saw a further decline in sales for Rupert Murdoch’s newly launched Sun on Sunday. The Sunday edition of the tabloid launched just a few weeks ago as a replacement for News of the World which closed down last year in light of the phone hacking scandal. The first edition of the Sun on Sunday sold over 3 million copies due to huge reader interest but subsequent weeks have seen a steady decline in sales.
Media Guardian reports that on Sunday the tabloid sold 2.3 million copies – down around 300,000 editions on the previous week. The decline in sales for the Sun on Sunday comes as the drop in sales for its weekend rivals also slows down. The Sunday Mirror and the Sunday People, both of which were dented by the launch of the Sun on Sunday, are showing signs of recovery.
However, despite the continued fall in sales for the Sun on Sunday it still remains the biggest selling tabloid on Sundays but the gap between it and its rivals is narrowing and News International is bound to be concerned about that. {jcomments off}
