Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker is the ninth celeb to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2014

Strictly - Sunetra Sarker

Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker has become the ninth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.

Sunetra and her partner Brendan Cole found themselves in the dance off alongside TV presenter Mark Wright and Karen Hauer in tonight’s results programme.

In a bid to impress the judges and secure their place in the competition, each couple performed their routine from Saturday again with Sunetra and Brendan performing a Rumba to Girl From Ipanema and Mark and Karen doing a Salsa to Viva Les Vegas by Elvis Presley.

After both couples had danced for survival the judges delivered their verdicts with Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli all choosing to save Mark and Karen. Head judge Len Goodman confirmed he would have voted the same way.

“It’s been such a once in a life time opportunity to be able to do this.  I’d like to thank Brendan for being just so committed and understanding, and such a natural dancer this guy – you’ve been great – thank you so much for everything.  I also want to say a thank you to every single one of the contestants and all the pro dancers for holding my hand so very tightly – love you all.” – Sunetra

Tonight’s results show also featured an opening performance from Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance troupe while, later in the show, André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra teamed up with Alfie Boe to perform a classic Italian track.

Strictly Come Dancing returns next Saturday, 6 December at 7.00pm, with the results show on Sunday 7th December at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
