Silent Witness dents Scott & Bailey ratings

BBC One crime drama Silent Witness dented the ratings of ITV‘s Scott & Bailey last night sending the drama tumbling to its lowest ratings to date.

However, while Silent Witness had victory at 9pm last night it wasn’t without a cost – 1.4 million viewers. The drama, starring Emilia Fox, returned on Sunday evening with 6.7 million viewers but last night’s concluding episode of the season opener dropped to 5.3 million viewers. It was still enough to beat Scott & Bailey on ITV1 which dropped to 4.4 million viewers – its lowest rating to date.

BBC One may be able to claim victory but there’s no denying both shows were impacted by their clash but both shows will make considerable gains once DVR and iplayer downloads are taken into account.
