The Voice UK widens ratings gap with Britain's Got Talent

Danny O'DonoghueOn Saturday evening The Voice managed to increase its lead over Britain’s Got Talent, during the clash period, to nearly 6 million viewers.

According to ratings data during the twenty minute clash period at 8pm The Voice had 11.8 million viewers for BBC One while Britain’s Got Talent had 5.8 million viewers for ITV1. The final round of the blind auditions on The Voice had an average audience of 10.6 million viewers with a peak audience of nearly 12 million viewers. Britain’s Got Talent meanwhile had an average audience of 10 million viewers peaking at 11.3 million viewers but over half a million viewers watching the show an hour later on ITV1’s time-shift channel.

The Voice continues to perform strongly for BBC One and its latest ratings victory comes after it emerged that ITV1 will air Britain’s Got Talent later in the evening next Saturday meaning the two shows will not clash at all. The move is doubtless to boost ratings for BGT which, outside of its clash period, continues to deliver big ratings for ITV1.
