Bonnie Tyler to appear in Hollyoaks Later

Welsh singing sensation Bonnie Tyler is set to appear in Hollyoaks’ night-time E4 spin-off ‘Later’ as part of a dream sequence.

Hollyoaks Later, the raunchier offspring of the popular Channel 4 teen soap returns to E4 in October for another run of hour-long dramas.

Producer Brian Kirkwood is reported on several news outlets as saying “It’s a real coup for Hollyoaks Later to have Bonnie… …We’re delighted that she’s agreed to take part in what will be a hilarious and entertaining sequence.”

Soap operas in the past have used ‘dream sequences’ occasionally. EastEnders famously, in a post-opening-titles scene, had Kathy Mitchell and Pat Butcher appearing together in a strange prison-like set; where Kathy was confronted with her past crimes to men and family. In Crossroads, during the wedding party for Meg and Hugh Mortimer, Meg drifts off into the land of daydream to see herself and her husband enjoying their honeymoon; snogging next to a fountain and in Neighbours we of course had the infamous sequence when pet dog Bouncer dreamed he was getting married – thankfully to another dog, and not Mrs Mangle or Madge!

Meanwhile in other Hollyoaks news actor Ricky Whittle thinks he’s come up with a plan to win this years Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One – he suggests he would strip down to just a thong if he helped the Hollyoaks ‘hunk’ (as the press call him) to get more votes in this years competition.

Readers of The Sun newspaper seemed unimpressed by such vain ideas: “Ha. A decent physique yes but not half the physique he thinks he has.” Said one reader, while another commented: “Shame he has no personality or acting ability!”

Hollyoaks airs weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4. Hollyoaks Later airs on E4, the air time is yet to be scheduled.
