ITV has commissioned a second series of Ninja Warrior UK with the hit entertainment production set to return to its weekend schedule in 2016.

Ben Shephard, Rochelle Humes and Chris Kamara present the series which sees participants take on ‘TV’s toughest obstacle course’. The format proved popular in the USA, Sweden and Japan prior to the launch of UK version which, ITV notes, peaked at 6m viewers earlier this year.

Each part of the series was laden with jaw-dropping challenges, heart-stopping excitement and adrenaline-fuelled action as the contestants attempt to complete three punishing and potentially hilarious stages. – ITV

The first series saw 250 ambitious competitors start but no one conquer the toughest obstacle course ever seen on British television. Tim Shieff became the ‘last man standing’ beating thirteen other contestants to get the furthest on the final course. The nail biting episode saw him just miss out on the chance to climb Mount Midoryama by a fraction of a second.

18,000 individuals have already applied to take on the legendary obstacle course in the second UK series but who will have the skills and strength to complete the tough challenges and who will fall foul at the first hurdle?

“I’m delighted Ninja Warrior UK’s coming back. The show’s mix of contestants’ hilarious attempts and inspirational performances is presented brilliantly by Ben, Rochelle and Kammy.” – ITV’s Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, Asif Zubairy

Ninja Warrior is based on Sasuke, a TBS format and is produced by Potato, part of ITV Studios in the UK.
