The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness is tenth celebrity confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2015
Jay McGuiness is the tenth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The singer’s participation emerged on BBC Radio 1 today (24 August) when Jay joined Matt Edmondson live in the studio and revealed the news on air.
“My family are such huge Strictly fans, I know I’ve made them very happy by taking part – I can’t wait to get started! I love to dance but this is going to be so different from anything I have done before, I’m up for it!” – Jay McGuiness
Jay is best known as one fifth of The Wanted, who released three albums and achieved ten top-ten singles in the UK’s Official Singles Charts before disbanding to pursue solo endeavours last year. Released in October 2010, the group’s debut album ‘The Wanted’ peaked at No.4 in the album’s chart and featured their first No.1 UK Single ‘All Time Low’. Their second album, Battleground, also saw a No.1 single in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with the popular hit in question ‘Glad You Came’ also receiving international recognition. The Wanted also starred in their own reality series on E! entitled The Wanted Life, following their stay in Los Angeles while they recorded their third worldwide album and prepared for a world tour.
Jay joins Anthony Ogogo, Daniel O’Donnell, Peter Andre, Carol Kirkwood, Katie Derham, Georgia May Foote, Kellie Bright, Ainsley Harriott and Jeremy Vine in the line-up.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next month. Further participants will be announced in due course.
