Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has praised Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson who came out as gay last week on This Morning. The actor, who plays Ste in the Channel Four soap, came out to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the ITV magazine programme while discussing an upcoming gay plot featuring his character. Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh, writing in her New column, praised the actor for coming out on live television.
“I think it’s great that Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste in Hollyoaks, has had the courage to come out. I’ve met him a few times because of Jamie’s Hollyoaks connections and he’s such a lovely guy. Although he must now feel comfortable enough about being gay to talk publicly about it, telling the world on This Morning last week must have taken a lot of guts, so well done, Kieron” – Kym Marsh in New
Marsh was one of several Coronation Street cast members to take part in the recent gay pride celebrations in Manchester. The actress joined cast members such as Anthony Cotton, Beverley Callard and Jennie McAlphine on a float at gay pride celebrating the soap.
