C4 to lure Portas from BBC?

 

Reports suggest that Channel Four is hoping to lure Mary Portas away from BBC Two where she has fronted popular series Mary Queen of Shops.

 

 

The Sun is reporting that Channel Four are hoping to sign up Mary Portas for an exclusive two year deal. Portas currently fronts popular BBC Two series Mary Queen Of Shops in which she tries to turn around the flagging fortunes of exclusive boutiques and in one series charity shops. The series is popular with viewers and its expected Portas will film another series for the BBC before her contract runs out.

 According to tabloid reports Portas isn’t the only BBC star tipped to defect to rivals with speculation that Graham Norton could also defect to Channel Four after the failure of his most recently entertainment series, Totally Saturday. Andrew Lloyd-Webber reportedly wishes to defect to ITV as well for another series searching for a new West End star. However, the BBC isn’t the only broadcaster with clouds hanging over the future of its stars. Channel Four itself has one hanging over Paul O’Grady who could defect to Sky One after C4 demanded budget cuts on the host’s popular tea-time chat-show.
