Keith Floyd Dies Aged 65
Celebrity chef Keith Floyd has passed away at the age of 65.
Keith Floyd, one of the first celebrity chefs has died aged 65. An ambulance was called to his partner’s home yesterday evening, where it is believed he suffered a heart attack. Floyd had been suffering from bowel cancer, which became public knowledge in July of this year.
Keith Floyd made his name hosting a number of cookery shows for the BBC. His first programme was called “Floyd On Fish“. He went on to host a number of programmes and was also a keen writer, being on the best sellers list numerous times. Marco Pierre White, who presides of Hell’s Kitchen told BBC Radio Four “Keith, in my opinion, was an exceptional human being. He had great qualities.”
Floyd would often be seen drinking wine while showing off his culinary techniques. In his early days he became a lieutenant in the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment.

- He ventured into entertainment presenting, taking over from Clive James on ITV’s …On TV clip show, however after one series he quit and was replaced by Chris Tarrant. Floyd didn’t feel comfortable presenting entertainment and there after stuck to food programming, of which he hosted over 20 series.
- He has been married and divorced four times.
- He was declared bankrupt in 1996, but has in recent years renewed his career with over 15 cookery books released and has hosted demonstrations at his ‘cookery theatre’ at the Linthwaite House Hotel, overlooking Lake Windermere in the Lake District.
- The last words he wrote on his ‘Floyd Uncorked’ blog simply read “to be continued…”
