Southland to switch to TNT?

Just days after NBC axed its gritty cop-drama Southland, before any episodes of its second season even aired, reports emerge that TNT are in talks to acquire the series.

NBCIt’s been a matter of days since NBC announced that it was cancelling gritty cop-series Southland even though no episodes of the drama’s second series have yet aired. In fact production on Southland’s second series was in progress with six episodes in the can when NBC decided to pull the plug. However, the future of Southland may not quite be dead as reports in America claim that cable channel TNT are in talks to acquire the series from NBC.

TNT’s parent company is Warner Brothers which produces Southland alongside John Well Productions so it’s well placed to snap up the series. However, while talks are underway no deal has yet been reached and its possible TNT will merely buy the six episodes already filmed and air those rather than agreeing to pick up the series and commission new episodes. The cable channel will want to see how Southland performs for it before risking commissioning additional episodes.
