Myleene Klass to reward life savers and first aid champions with St John Ambulance

St John Ambulance seeks life savers and first aid champions as awards deadline draws near.

Entries for the St John Ambulance Everyday Heroes Awards, hosted by Myleene Klass, close on 24th March. Do you know someone who has saved a life? Or a first aider who has gone the extra mile to help someone in need? Does your company go above and beyond the call of duty to provide life-saving training? If so, it’s time to nominate your Everyday Hero.

St John Ambulance is on the hunt for ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. The charity’s annual Everyday Heroes Awards, supported by Laerdal (the creators of the Resusci Anne training manikin), honour local life savers, community heroes, organisations and members of the public who have used first aid to help others. This year they’ve launched a brand new Hero Parent of the Year category, to recognise parents and carers who’ve saved their child’s life.

Finalists will be invited to the glittering, star-studded Everyday Heroes Award ceremony, which will be hosted by presenter and musician Myleene Klass, who saved her own baby’s life.

‘I feel very privileged to be hosting the St John Ambulance Everyday Heroes awards as I know from personal experience how scary it is when you’re faced with a first aid emergency. My own daughter choked when she was just a baby, and I really believe because of the first aid training I’d had, I was able to save her life.‎ I’m looking forward to meeting all of the inspiring finalists and hearing their stories. Last year, the awards honoured winners like teacher Vic Moore, who offered free CPR lessons to the community, and Max Willson, who saved his little sister Mini when she severed an artery on a broken window. 2015 also saw a record number of nominations and the charity hopes that this year will yield even more incredible life saving stories.
