No return to Corrie for two stars

Coronation Street producers have denied stories in the press that actresses Tina O’Brien and Kate Ford where due to reprise their respective roles next year for the soap’s 50th anniversary.

 

ITVCoronation Street producers have denied tabloid stories that they were planning on bringing back Sarah Louise Platt [Tina O’Brien] and Tracey Barlow [Kate Ford] for the soap’s 50th anniversary next year. Sunday tabloid News of the World claimed that actress Tina O’Brien had actually signed a contract with the soap to reprise her role for a year. O’Brien bowed out of the Manchester soap in 2007 to pursue other roles. The same article also claimed that actress Kate Ford would also return next year for the soaps 50th anniversary.

ITVHowever, producers were to deny the story in the tabloid telling internet website Digital Spy that no plans existed for either character to return next year. There has been tabloid speculation for some time now as to who will return to Coronation Street for the soaps milestone anniversary. Tina O’Brien’s name has cropped up several times in such articles. Characters confirmed as returning to the soap so far are; Sunita Alahan [Shobna Gulati], Ciaran McCarty [Keith Duffy], Nick Tilsley [Recast with Ben Price in the role] and Mary Taylor [Patti Claire] all due to return within the next couple of months.
