RDF TelevisionChannel Four has decided to axe popular reality shows Wife Swap and How Clean Is Your House? The broadcaster has decided not to renew either series for new episodes in 2010 as it looks instead towards the commissioning of new formats and programmes. The move follows Channel Four’s announcement over the summer that Big Brother would end next year – another popular reality format for the broadcaster.

Wife Swap, produced by RDF Television, has been on air since 2003 and has proved to be a popular part of Channel Four’s line-up spawning a celebrity version and remakes across the world. It features two couples deciding to swap ‘wives’ for a time with the husbands. The wives have to adjust to their new homes and life under their opponents rules for a while before being allowed to introduce their own rules. The show often resulted in arguments and firey confrontations. At its peak the show pulled in six million viewers for C4 but now commands only two million viewers. How Clean Is Your House? also launched in 2003 and is produced by Talkback Thames for Channel Four.
