Jean Fergusson to guest in Coronation Street

Last of the Summer Wine actress Jean Fergusson has signed up for a guest appearance in the ITV1 soap Coronation Street.

Jean Fergusson, best-known as the tarty Marina in Last of the Summer Wine, has signed up for a guest stint in ITV1 soap Corrie.

The actress will play Dorothy Hoyle, the mother of Charlotte Hoyle (Becky Hindley). Jean will appear in the role for six episodes and has already begun filming her scenes for the Granada soap. It will be her third role in the serial.

Jean Fergusson as Marina in Last of the Summer Wine joined the comedy in 1985 – the last episode of the sitcom recently aired on BBC One, it has become the longest-running sitcom in the world, launching in 1973. She was cast in the telly comedy having made an impact as the character in the 1984 stage-version of the show.

The actresses other roles include a stint in the original Crossroads as Caroline Herbert a love interest of Kings Oak regular Roy Mollison (Richard Frost) and also guest roles in BBC One daytime saga Doctors and Central Television rural drama Peak Practice.

Last of the Summer Wine also regularly starred former Corrie legend Jean Alexander, best known as Weatherfield’s gossip Hilda Ogden, as cunning shop owner Aunty Wainright.
