Tuesday Ratings: Strong start for Tiger Documentary
The start of BBC One’s new nature documentary The Land of the Lost Tiger started strongly last night with nearly 5 million viewers. Updated to include ratings for 0Daybreak, Lorraine and Hollyoaks.
Tuesday morning saw Daybreak pull in nearly 800,000 viewers once again as the new ITV breakfast show fails to break the 1 million mark for a third week and fails to take over Breakfast on BBC One. Launched with much hype by ITV after it ditched GMTV the Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley fronted vehicle has received a frosty welcome from morning viewers – many of whom continue to post on ATV Today criticising the show. Following Daybreak on ITV1 was Lorraine which saw ratings rise to 900,000 viewers. Breakfast on BBC One meanwhile had 1.3 million viewers yesterday morning.
The One Show on BBC One at 7pm continued to attract steady ratings with 4.3 million viewers tuning in according to overnight ratings. At 7.30 on BBC One EastEnders put in a strong 8.7 million viewers making it the most watched programme of the day. The BBC Three repeat at 10pm added a further 1.2 million viewers giving the episode a combined total audience of 9.9 million viewers. Following the London soap at 8pm was medical drama Holby City which pulled in 5.6 million viewers. The start of BBC One’s new nature documentary series The Land of the Lost Tiger debuted later with strong figures. The three-part documentary features footage of the tigers in the Himalayas Kingdom of Bhutan where they have previously been unseen. The documentary was seen by 4.9 million viewers at 9pm.
Over on ITV1 New Who Wants to be a Millionaire had a paltry 3.4 million viewers at 8pm while celebrity adventure series 71 Degrees North had 3.2 million viewers at 9pm. BBC Two had a good night with The Great British Bake Off at 8pm scoring 2.5 million viewers followed by Excluded at 9pm with 1.1 million viewers. Over on Channel Four during the evening teen-soap Hollyoaks had 1.1 million viewers at 6.30pm while later Help! My House Is Falling Down had 1.9 million viewers at 8pm followed by Ramsay’s Best Restaurant at 9pm which saw ratings drop to 1.7 million viewers. At 10pm drama This Is England ’86 continued with a respectable 2 million viewers.
Channel Five’s best rating of the night was for CSI: Miami at 9pm with 2.1 million viewers while fellow spin-off CSI: NY at 10pm had 1.2 million viewers.
