Neighbours actor James Mason – ‘role was not worth turning down’

EXCLUSIVE: Neighbours actor James Mason has told ATV Today of the moment he got the role playing gay character Chris Pappas.

This year Neighbours has been marking its 25th anniversary and to do so there has been a number of key storylines to regenerate interest in the soap. Teenager Chris Pappas recently came out as gay on screen a few weeks ago.

Speaking to ATV Today, James Mason told us “I was excited to get the role and the fact that the character is the first ongoing regular gay character on the show, it’s such an opportunity and it was not worth turning down.”

He also went on to say that the response to the character had been positive. “It’s really warming all this positive feedback. It makes me feel like i’m doing something right with the character.”
