CBS soap The Young and the Restless has announced the actor who’ll be taking over the role of Noah Newman from previous player Kevin G. Schmidt. It was revealed earlier this summer by Schmidt that while the character of Noah would return to the CBS soap he wouldn’t – producers were recasting the character. The reason for the recast is because producers want to age the character of Noah for storylines – a common thing in American soaps.

With the news that the role was being cast fans of The Young and the Restless began speculating over who would play Noah now. Former General Hospital cast member Drew Garrett was widely linked to the role by fans. However, it won’t be Garrett who’ll be the new Luke but instead Luke Klientank. The actor has no previous daytime experience but appeared in three episodes of Gossip Girl in the role of Elliot earlier this year. Kleintank other roles include appearances in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Good Wife. Kleintank will make his debut in The Young and the Restless as Noah Newman on September 21st.
