Gary Lucy to leave The Bill
Actor Gary Lucy has quit ITV cop-drama The Bill after four years on the struggling series.
Gary Lucy has decided to quit the ITV cop-drama series The Bill after four years in the drama. Gary Lucy plays TDC Will Fletcher on the drama which last week moved to a 9pm slot after a much-hyped revamp. The number of episodes per year of the series has been cut by ITV as it re-launches the drama as a post-watershed drama. The half of episodes per year has already resulted in the departure of four characters from the series and PC Tony Stamp [Graham Cole] has also been given his marching orders.
Bosses of The Bill have warned fans that other characters may also be culled as the series adapts to just one episode per week meaning less screen time is available for all the characters currently on the series. Gary Lucy is expected to remain with the series for the time-being and will bow out in December but its unknown how his character will depart Sun Hill but sources for the drama claim the door will be left open for a possible return. Gary Lucy had previously appeared in the teen-soap Hollyoaks and glamorous ITV drama Footballers Wives before joining the cast of The Bill.
