ITVYorkshire soap Emmerdale pulled in another impressive audience last night as the adverse weather continues to grip the country. On Tuesday evening the soap pulled in 8 million viewers – its strongest performance in months. Last night though with little competition on the other channels the ITV soap was seen by 8.4 million viewers.

The ITV soap wasn’t the only one to be boosted by the weather. Daytime BBC soap Doctors also enjoyed strong ratings as people opted to stay at home rather than struggle into work. According to figures Doctors was seen by 2.7 million viewers. Tuesday’s edition of the medical soap was seen by 2 million viewers and these figures reflect its best performance in a year. The snow and icy conditions continue to affect the country and are expected to do so for the rest of the week which could mean more strong performances for soaps as viewers opt to stay in rather than brave the cold.
