Perforated ulcer caused Tara Palmer-Tomkinson’s death
Socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson died from a perforated ulcer.
Author Sante Montefiore shared the findings of a coroner’s report into her sister’s death in a series of tweets earlier today.
Tara was found dead at her flat in South Kensington, London last week. In a statement Metropolitan Police said they were not treating the death of the 45 year old former ‘It Girl’ as suspicious.

Sante quashed rumours that her sister had a brain tumour and insisted that she was in a good place before her death.
“I’ve been so touched by the warm response to Tara’s death.Thank you from the whole family. But I’d like to clarify a couple of points.
“Today the Coroner’s report states that Tara died of natural causes – a perforated ulcer. She did not have a brain tumour.
“Tara’s good friends & family know that she was in high spirits in her last days. She had plans, trips & had written a moving new song.” – Sante Montefiore
Tara made a splash on London’s party scene throughout the 1990s, and was credited for a column about her activities in the Sunday Times. In recent years she is probably best known for her reality television appearances including the first series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2002 and Comic Relief Does Fame Academy in 2007. She won the latter after memorably tackling hits such as Joline and These Boots Are Made for Walkin’. Other TV appearances include Eurovision Junior, Top Gear and Would I Lie To You?

The one time tabloid staple was treated for a non-malignant brain tumour in 2016 and, in a number of interviews, spoke candidly about having and beating an addiction to cocaine. Tabloid reports in recent days have suggested that she may have had a cocaine relapse prior to her death. However, a full statement from her family rebuts the claims.
“We would like to thank the many people who have contacted us about Tara following her untimely death. It has been a source of great comfort to know how loved she was by so many people.
“Tara died peacefully in her sleep due to a perforated ulcer and peritonitis.
“Those that knew and were close to Tara knew that there was no retreat to a ‘dark place’ as some have disappointingly sought to suggest. In the last few weeks Tara was happy, positive and making plans for when she recovered her health.
“As usual she had been busy with the friends and family she loved, and who loved her in return.
“She was in communication with her family and others of whom she was fond over her final weekend and had spent a lot of her time recording music and playing the piano in her apartment – a sure sign that she was happy and feeling good.” – Family Statement
They added that Tara’s funeral – “a private moment for family and close friends to grieve” – will take place on 27 February.
Well she died young, but she certainly lived life to the full. RIP.
