ITV’s spotlight on David Cameron interests 2.5 million viewers

ITV’s Tonight spotlight on David Cameron performed considerably better than his interview with Sir Trevor McDonald in March as 2.5 million viewers tuned in. Coronation Street was ahead of rivals EastEnders once more as 9 million viewers tuned in to soaps second outing of Monday.

 

ITV’s Tonight spotlight on David Cameron performed considerably better than his interview with Sir Trevor McDonald in March as 2.5 million viewers tuned in. According to overnight figures Tonight: Spotlight on the Leaders – David Cameron had 2.51 million viewers at 8pm which is considerably higher than the Tory leader’s interview with Sir Trevor McDonald in March which had a pathetic 1.6 million viewers. On BBC One Jeremy Clarkson interviewed the Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg which 2.2 million viewers at 8pm – not far behind that of Cameron on ITV1.

 

Elsewhere at 9pm another repeat of New Tricks on BBC One had 3.8 million viewers while Flashforward on Five had 1.6 million viewers. This is a slight rise in ratings for the American import from previous weeks but still not as good as the 2 million who tuned in a few weeks ago for its return or the 3.1 million who tuned in last year for the premier of Flashforward. In terms of soaps it was Coronation Street which was in the lead last night with 8.7 million and 9 million respectively. Emmerdale had 6.7 million viewers at 7pm while BBC One soap EastEnders had 8.7 million viewers at 8pm for BBC One. Earlier in the day daytime series Doctors had 1.3 million viewers while Hollyoaks had 1 million viewers.
