The final season of the drama, starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as the tyrant King, will chronicle the final years of Henry VIII’s reign and marriages to Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr. Joely Richardson will join the cast of the drama as Henry’s final wife, Parr, for the final episodes. According to ratings for Sunday night’s opening episode ratings for The Tudors climbed to 1.1 million viewers – its best audience yet.
When The Tudors bows out later this year Showtime will replace it with The Borgias; a renaissance based drama revolving around the notorious Italian family and starring Jeremy Irons.
